This is how Rex and Sarah’s Lake House Wedding rolled out.
2020. The best year for many brides.
Then out of left field came one of the most horrific plagues to enter the world in recent memory: Covid-19.
This resulted in many couples changing their plans for their weddings. Either reschedule their wedding, or call it off temporarily.
Rex and Sarah opted in for option three: continue with their wedding, but alter their plans.
Originally, Sarah and Rex were to get married at Superior Bath House Brewery in Hot Springs, Arkansas, but were also affected by the coronavirus.
They made the gut wrenching decision to cancel the wedding at their venue.
However, as mentioned, they did not call off their wedding. They just altered their plans.
The First Look
The new plan was simple.
Instead of getting married at a venue, Rex and Sarah would get married at his parent’s lake house.
This brought their guest count from 150+ to around 20.
On March 21, 2020, Sarah dawned on her dress from the Dress Bridal Boutique at their AirBnB they booked months in advance.
And her hair stylist, Ashley Altman, worked her magic on Sarah’s hair.
This is the space Sarah and her bridesmaids were to rest the night before the wedding.
Many of her bridesmaids, however, could not make it.
Including Sarah’s sister in Seattle, Washington.
Rather than dwelling on what should have been, they made the AirBnB their first look location.
The house was beautiful, and the weather was perfect.
It was the perfect atmosphere for the bride and groom to meet before their intimate ceremony.
A Lake House Ceremony
After the first look, we drove to the Lake House.
Rex had family helping the few cars park in preparation for the back porch ceremony.
The ceremony set up was simple. Chairs for guests, flowers by Cabbage Rose Florist, and a simple backdrop for Rex and Sarah.
There was no DJ to queue music.
Instead, the acting DJ was a nephew to connect a Spotify playlist to the Beats Pill Speaker.
There are no rustic whiskey barrels in the backdrop.
But there is a porch that will be visited many times over.
This is not the wedding Rex and Sarah dreamed of.
It is, however, the one that became the perfect gathering for the celebration of love they have for each other.
Sarah and Rex, congratulations. I wish you the best of marriages in all of the universe.
You have already come through a trial.
I have faith that any more that may come your way, you will come out victorious.
Thank you for being a part of the Arkansas Wedding Collection.
