Two Rivers Park is becoming one of my favorite spots in Central Arkansas. It offers a large variety of looks for photos – from pictures on the bridge to a dreamy, woodsy environment. Ashton and Tanner’s summer engagement session by the Arkansas River was a mixture of everything.
Summer Engagement Session by the Arkansas River
Meeting the Couple
When Ashton and I first spoke on the phone with each other, getting to learn about one another, one thing was evident: she is entirely in love with Tanner.
One question I love to ask people when I first meet them and hear their story is, “What do you love most about your partner?”
When I asked Ashton, she told me, through tears, “He makes me a better person and he’s always there for me.”
As an aside, that’s exactly what anyone needs to be searching for in their relationship.
On the day of their summer engagement session, they showed up in casual-formal wear, with Ashton wearing a beautiful blue dress and Tanner a slim, white shirt and blue dress pants.
Needless to say – they looked spectacular!
The Engagement Session
My process for starting this summer engagement session was simple. Let the couple warm up to the idea of being in front of a camera, and don’t direct.
The way I do this is simply by following them for 5 minutes, interacting, and taking a photo while we talk.
This allows me to get amazing photos from the start and they start to see the camera as part of the day.
It also allows us to explore a bit more freely. For instance, Ashton and Tanner would see something and they had my full permission to explore.
From walking under the bridge, going by the large steps, or going over the pedestrian bridge over the Arkansas River, we were everywhere!
Ashton and Tanner, your wedding is going to be so wonderful at one of the newest venues in Central Arkansas – congratulations!
